Has anyone fit three car seats across in a compact SUV?

Our third baby is due in January, and we'd rather not buy a minivan. We have a compact SUV with a regular back seat.

Has anyone fit three car seats across in a car like this? Which seats did you use, and could you still buckle the middle one without a fight?

    We fit three across with narrow convertible seats, about 43 cm wide each. The infant seat had to go in the middle. Measure your back seat at hip height before you buy anything.

      Book a free car seat check with your local public health unit or fire station. They showed us which seat positions were actually safe in our car.
